Sony is set to release its second virtual reality accessory, the PlayStation VR2, on February 22, 2023. This time, the VR headset has been specifically designed for use with the PlayStation 5 console. People have already had the chance to get their hands on the VR experience-providing package, and with the lifting of the embargo, the manufacturer has released its own video showing what the package contains.
The package includes the headset itself, two Sense controllers (with USB-C charging cables) and a pair of headphones (with three different-sized earbuds). Compared to the original PS VR from 2017, the contents of the package are relatively modest, which is good news as one of the biggest drawbacks of the original PS VR was the large number of accessories and cables required to get the accessory up and running.
This is no longer an issue, as the PS VR2 only requires a single cable that connects to the PlayStation 5 before the game starts. The exact performance and gaming experience provided by the PS VR2 can only be determined after a thorough test.
What is already known about the accessory is that it now uses OLED displays to provide the image, with resolutions up to 4K, refresh rates of 90 or 120 Hz with HDR support. The headset also features eye-tracking and haptic feedback technologies. The image displayed in front of our eyes provides a viewing angle of at least 110 degrees.
