Great news has recently emerged for owners of iPhones spanning the last three generations.
With the upcoming iOS 17.2 system update, both the iPhone 13 and the upcoming iPhone 14 are set to support the Wireless Qi2 wireless charging standard, extending beyond compatibility with just MagSafe chargers. The latest iPhone 15 series, on the other hand, is inherently equipped with this technology from the outset, though its full potential has only now become apparent with the release of the first Qi2-enabled charging pads.
Anker, one of the early adopters, has unveiled a portion of the initial offerings. Furthermore, the company claims that, thanks to Wireless Qi2, members of the MagGo product line will be capable of wirelessly charging all models from the iPhone 13 onwards with an impressive 15W power output. This marks a departure from the exclusive domain of MagSafe products, potentially transforming the charging landscape for iPhone users.
If these claims hold true, owners of the latest iPhones and charging pads may soon find themselves largely abandoning traditional wired charging at home. The charging pads, leveraging the power of Wireless Qi2, promise to replenish phone batteries at a reasonable speed, offering a convenient and efficient alternative to traditional charging methods.
