Google Fixes Critical Security Flaws in Chrome Browser – Immediate Installation Recommended

Google has released new security updates for the Chrome web browser to address essential security vulnerabilities that have been exploited by numerous attackers since the beginning of the new year, the company announced on Tuesday. The improved versions have been rolled out globally through the Stable Desktop channel for Windows (120.0.6099.224/225), Mac (120.0.6099.234), and Linux (120.0.6099.224) systems.

For those who prefer not to manually update their browsers, Chrome automatically checks for new updates and installs them after the next launch.

The so-called “zero-day” security flaw (CVE-2024-0519) arises from a memory access issue in the Chrome V8 JavaScript engine. Exploiting this flaw, attackers can gain access to data beyond the memory buffer, compromising personal information and causing system crashes on computers.

Google has also addressed two additional vulnerabilities in the V8 engine (CVE-2024-0517 and CVE-2024-0518) that allow for arbitrary code execution on compromised devices.

It is highly recommended to install these updates promptly to ensure the security of your Chrome browser. The “zero-day” vulnerability poses a significant risk, and with the automatic update feature, users can safeguard their systems against potential threats. Stay secure and keep your browser up to date!
